Virtual World sex is definitely a topic that has piqued the interest of a lot of researchers out there. When you think about it, why wouldn’t it pique their interest? It is a virtual world where you can create your own avatar and have as much crazy sex as possible with really no limitations other than common decency and laws. So it’s no wonder that people are curious about it. I was curious when I first rezzed and look at how my life turned out. A whore who owns a sex bar with her sister. It’s a fun world to discover. I know that this post is going to be a little different from my “Look at how hard he fucked me” posts, but I think it’s an interesting topic and hopefully, you do too.

Virtual World Sex | Are You Curious?

Are you curious about Virtual World sex? If you are then don’t worry because you are definitely not alone.

In a virtual world where you can do whatever you want to do, and explore your sexual fantasies in ways that may not be possible in the physical world it is hard not to be drawn in.

One of the earliest studies on Virtual World sex was conducted in 2007 by researchers Yee and Bailenson. Their research found that around 33% of Second Life users had engaged in some form of sexual activity with other residents.

They also discovered that those who engage in Virtual World sex are more likely to be unmarried, and have a higher level of education. This might be surprising to some, but when you think about it it makes sense.

Second Life is a place where people can explore their sexual fantasies without fear of social or cultural barriers. Those who are more protective of their life and reputation would find it to be a very appealing place to explore. Higher education often leads to a relatively successful career path, and of course, people would want to protect that.

Virtual World Sex | Kang and Stein

In 2019 Kang and Stein examined both the motivations and the outcomes of engaging in Virtual World sex from a self-determination theory perspective.

During their research, they found that the individuals who engage in Virtual World sex are mostly motivated by some form of desire for autonomy, competence, and relatedness.

They also discovered that individuals who engage in Virtual World sex experience a lot of positive outcomes, such as increased self-esteem and decreased social anxiety.

For anyone who is about to run to Google to get a more in-depth description of what autonomy, competence or relatedness really means in this context I will save you time.

Autonomy refers to an individual’s desire to feel in control of their own actions and experiences. So for some people, engaging in Virtual World sex may be a way to assert their autonomy, to explore their desires on their own terms, without the judgment and social restrictions that may exist in the physical world.

Competence is a fairly self-explanatory one. It refers to someone’s desire to feel competent and successful in their activities. Engaging in sex on the grid might provide them with a sense of achievement and competence that isn’t really attainable for them in the physical world, especially for people who might feel insecure about their sexual abilities.

Relatedness is the one that I feel I see more of. It’s a person’s desire to feel connected to other people. Engaging in Virtual World sex might give them a sense of emotional connection and intimacy that they might not be able to find in the real world. It can be a way to explore their sexual fantasies with others who share similar interests.

Your Thoughts

It’s also important to mention that not everyone who engages in sex within the confines of Second Life will have positive outcomes. Like anything else, Virtual World sex can be addictive and can have negative consequences.

It’s also important to recognize that a virtual world is not a substitute for the real one but it sure is a lot of fun.

Of course, virtual world sex is not without its controversies.

There are some people who argue that it’s a form of infidelity and it can end up being a polarizing subject that raises a few questions.

What do you think? Do you love sex in Second Life as much as I do? Or do you fall into the category of wanting to avoid it at all costs?

One thing is for sure – sex in any Second Life is fascinating and if you read this blog then you know just how much I love it. It’s a source of pleasure and excitement, and really at times can be a source of empowerment.
