Hi! As we start to roll out our new X-Sister’s service: The X-Sisters Girlfriend Experience, I was asked to talk about sugaring and my experiences with it in Second Life. Before I started as an escort here at X-Sisters I sugared for a few men around the grid, and I thought you might be interested in hearing some of those stories and how they might relate to our new girlfriend experience service. What Is Sugaring in Second Life?

There are a number of different names that are used to describe sugaring (both in Second Life and in Real Life), and you are probably familiar with some of them, but Sugar Daddy (or Mommy) and Sugar Baby are the most commonly used.

Sugar dating, or sugaring, is a type of financial relationship between (typically) an older man and a younger woman, although it can be between a woman and another woman, or a woman and a man. The main consistent point in a sugaring relationship is that one is typically older, and better off financially, while the other is younger and has a variety of financial needs ((that need covering)). Rather than just a direct payment for “services rendered,” like with an escort, a sugar relationship may consist of one party paying rent for the other, or providing credit cards for clothes and other expenses, like college tuition or books.

When you see an advertisement for a “mutually beneficial” or “financially beneficial” situation, this is often a sugaring relationship.

Is Sugaring the Same as Escorting?

Unlike with escorting, sugaring isn’t necessarily a sexual relationship between the two people. It can involve sex, and it can sometimes involve more sex than with the transactions between an escort and their client, but the primary aspect of sugaring is companionship in some form or another.

An older man who is single and has a very busy work schedule doesn’t always have the time to develop a relationship, but still has circumstances when he needs a pretty piece of arm candy for a work event, or some sort of social gathering. This is where a relationship with a “sugar baby” can come in handy.

Because the younger women in a sugaring relationship are usually college students, they can be pretty and provide conversation in social events.

My Experience with Sugaring in Second Life

With those basics explained, I’ve sugared for a few older men during my time in Second Life. One former “sugar daddy” was (at the time we were together) a tech executive in real life. He worked a lot of hours in real life, and had what he described as an unfulfilled relationship in his real life with his wife.

Our relationship in Second Life consisted of my listening to him talk about his job, his wife, and whatever else was bothering him at the time, usually while he would take me shopping and have me try on clothes either he liked, or that caught my eye.

The extent of the sexual activity of our relationship was that he would sometimes ask me to sit or stand around while naked. Sometimes in real life he would masturbate, but mostly he just wanted companionship, and beyond that naked companionship.

Different Sugar Daddies, Different Relationships

Another “sugar daddy” I have had a relationship with hated being called “daddy” in any sort of form. In real life he drove a truck for a company, moving things between warehouse and stores in different locations, and sometimes even states. His real life made socializing there difficult, because it wouldn’t be unusual for him to be in a couple of different states over the course of a week but he could still log into Second Life when his work day was done.

We also met before I became an X-Girl, at a club that specialized in the Clothed Male, Naked Female fetish, and after we chatted there a few times, he “took me under his wing” and into a sugaring relationship. My relationship with him was primarily sexual, although he did like to buy me clothing that he liked to take off of me.

Our “relationship” was his asking if I was busy, and if I wasn’t, he would pay me and teleport me to his location. Sometimes he would message me to talk about his frustrations and then give me some spending money for a shopping event.

The Unique Nature of Sugaring Relationships

While sugaring relationships can look similar on the surface, each is honestly fairly unique. They all will have the desire for companionship with someone at their core. In the example of the second sugaring relationship, he wanted someone he could talk to, and yes fuck, but he didn’t want to put in the time to build a relationship.

As long as you understand this going into a sugaring relationship, it shouldn’t be overly problematic to deal with.

Just like with escorting, you have to keep in mind that the relationship is transactional, however the companionship that is transacted for can sometimes be more intimate than just hiring someone for sex. In the case of both of those men, I knew things about each of their lives that spouses or significant others (if they had them) didn’t know. It was like being a girlfriend, but with a time clock attached to it.
