Street Whores | How I Won the Auction and Revived Second Life’s Iconic Sim

Last Updated on: 1st January 2026, 11:24 pm

Let me tell you the story of how walking away from Street Whores led to one of the biggest decisions of my entire Second Life.

When I wrote that last post about saying goodbye to Street Whores, I meant it. That was supposed to be the end of the story. But life—or in this case, Second Life—has a way of surprising you. What I didn’t expect was to be back here, telling you how Street Whores might just get a second chance.

Nobody saw this coming, least of all me.

One of the Biggest Decisions of My Entire Second Life

Back when I first started out, working at Candy’s, I had no ambition of running anything. I was happy being a sex waitress, having a lot of sex, and writing about it. I had my little massage parlour in Street Whores and my mansion on the beach. Honestly, life was pretty damn good.

And then Chandra moved in with me, and everything went to shit. Life became miserable.

End of story.

But seriously, back then, I couldn’t have cared less about running a business. Then the X-Sisters store happened. It was fun, something different, and I enjoyed it. That small store evolved into the X-Sisters Sex Bar on a tiny parcel with 175 prims. It grew from there. And for the past year, I’ve been running a successful escort bar. I was satisfied. I didn’t need to do more.

But then Street Whores closed last week, and I started hearing people talk. They were devastated. It wasn’t just another sim shutting down; for a lot of people, it was a home they’d lost. That hurt to hear.

The Auction | A Moment of Realization

I saw that the land had already gone up for auction. I mentioned it to Christina, gossiping about how quickly it happened, when she hit me with a question I hadn’t even considered: “Do you think it’s worth buying?”

My first reaction? Fuck. I wasn’t planning on bidding. I was just trying to chat, not thinking about making any big moves. But now the seed had been planted, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

The more I mulled it over, the more it started to make sense. On a business level, sure, it’d be a lot of work, but it had massive potential. And personally? I was pissed at how Street Whores had been shut down. There were so many people who would have saved it if they had the chance, but nobody could because of how the group permissions were set up. I was now being presented a chance to make that right.

Making the Decision to Bid

So, I looked at the auction page. The bids were sitting at 30k. I took a deep breath, set aside a large chunk of cash, and told myself, “Fuck it. Let’s do this.” I gave myself a max budget. If I won, great. If I lost, then that was the end of it. No regrets.

I told only a few people about my plan, and their reactions were all over the place. Some thought it was a fantastic idea. Others told me that I was “fucking insane”. Maybe they were right. Maybe I am insane. But I’ve already built what feels like a corporate whore company at this point. Adding one more thing to my portfolio didn’t seem that crazy.

So, I sat and watched the auction. It had about 48 hours left. Well, more like 32 hours in this case, but for dramatic effect, let’s call it 48.

The Auction Process | Playing the Waiting Game

For those of you who’ve never been through a Second Life land auction, let me explain how it works. You need a membership that allows land ownership—Premium, Premium Plus, whatever—and a verified email. You also need enough Linden dollars in your account to cover the bid. Auctions run on an auto-bidding system, like eBay. You place your max bid, and the system automatically raises your bid by increments until it either hits your max or someone outbids you.

Sounds simple, right? Well, it is—until you get caught in the madness of watching the clock tick down and wondering if someone’s going to outbid you at the last second.

And that’s exactly where I found myself.

A Critical Mistake

With less than 24 hours to go, the bids were still sitting around 50k. I figured it was time to put my money where my mouth was, so I placed my first max bid of 250,000L (This was my only saving grace. I didn’t bid everything yet). I felt confident. Surely that was enough to win, right?

But then, the real game began. Someone, some clever fucking asshole, decided to start probing the system. They placed small bids—5000L here, 9970L there—until they landed at 249,997L. That’s just 3L under my max bid. They’d figured me out because my bid didn’t go 10L higher than theirs. They knew exactly what my max was, and now they could sit there, waiting until the last second to outbid me by the smallest possible margin.

I was fucked.

The system doesn’t let you raise your bid if you’re winning. So, I couldn’t increase my max bid unless someone outbid me. If they waited until the last few seconds to throw in an extra 20L, they’d win, and I’d lose with no time to react. I was panicking, cursing myself for letting this happen.

Christina to the Rescue

Then Christina walked into my office, cool as ever. I told her everything, explaining how this ass had figured out my max bid. Without hesitation, she pulled up the auction page, placed a bid, and outbid me herself. Just like that, I was free to raise my max bid again.

Thank fuck for Christina. Most people wouldn’t even think about doing something like that, but she didn’t even blink. She gave me the breathing room I needed, and now I could go back to increasing my bid without being trapped.

The Agonizing Wait

With my bid freed up, I decided to wait until the last minute before raising it again. I wasn’t about to show my cards too early.

The rest of the day dragged on. Waiting is torture for me, and the stress of this auction wasn’t helping. I paced around the X-Sisters bar, hiding in random rooms to pass the time. But no matter what I did, I couldn’t stop thinking about the auction.

Christina, in all her well-meaning glory, kept giving me countdowns. “27 minutes left,” she’d say. “23 minutes.” “18 minutes.” I wanted to scream.

By the time we hit 12 minutes, I was a wreck. I knew I had enough of a max bid sitting there to feel confident, but with an auction, you can never be too sure. Every second felt like it could make or break the entire thing.

Unexpected Help from a Slave

Then, out of nowhere, I got a notification. My slave sent me 100,000L. No explanation, no questions—just the money. I didn’t know what to say. That extra cash gave me the freedom to raise my bid even higher if I needed to without technically having to use more of my own money.

Of course, I was still a bundle of nerves. With 10 minutes to go, time seemed to crawl by. I felt like I was in some kind of warped reality where the clock wasn’t moving at all.

The Final Countdown

With two minutes left, I couldn’t take it anymore. I turned to Christina, told her what my max bid was, and said, “If this goes for more than that, it’s not mine.”

I took a swig of coffee, told her I’d be back in three minutes, and headed to the auction page.

If you’ve never been in a high-stakes auction, let me tell you—those final moments are fucking hell. My max bid was over 2,000 USD, and all I could think about were the million ways this could go wrong. What if my internet cut out? What if my computer crashed? What if I typed in the wrong amount? My hands were shaking.

With 40 seconds left, I hit submit.

The Bidding War Begins

The bids started flying in. 300k. 330k. 350k. The numbers were rising fast, but I was still in the lead. 400k. 401,900L.

And then… silence.

The Result

I stared at the screen, waiting for something else to happen, but it didn’t. The auction ended. The final bid from my competition was 401,900L…

It was nowhere near my max.

I had won.

It was mine. After all the stress, the near-mistakes, and the waiting, I had won the land. Hoogenach was mine, and I could finally reopen Street Whores.

It was a moment of disbelief. I just sat there, staring at the screen, letting it all sink in.

Street Whores was coming back.

Reopening Street Whores | A New Beginning

The relief that washed over me after winning the auction was overwhelming, but it didn’t last long. I quickly realized that this was just the start. Winning the auction wasn’t the end—it was the beginning of an entirely new chapter. The real work was about to start.

I wasn’t just reviving an old place. I was taking something that had been left to die and bringing it back to life, with the plan to make it better than before. The weight of what Street Whores meant to so many people started sinking in. This wasn’t just my story anymore—this was about everyone who had ever called that sim home, every whore who had worked those streets, and every person who had a memory tied to that place.

I was ready. Street Whores was going to rise again, and this time, I’d make sure it had the support, the love, and the care it deserved. Now it was about preserving a legacy and giving it the second chance it should’ve had all along.

And as for me? I’m going to make sure that Street Whores becomes something un-fucking-forgettable.
