Mama Allpa: The Complete Second Life Pregnancy System & HUD Guide

Last Updated on: 6th January 2026, 11:36 am

If youโ€™re in any way serious about family roleplay in Second Life then you inevitably end up at Mama Allpa. It is the gold standard of pregnancy HUDs for a reason. Unlike simple โ€œtummy talkersโ€ that just spam local chat with random messages, Mama Allpa is a complex biological simulation. It tracks menstruation, ovulation, sperm count, genetic traits, and gestation down to the minute. You may remember that a few years ago, I got very knowledgeable with it after Kane went on an impregnation spree at Candyโ€™s All-Inclusive Sex Hotel.

But to be honest: the HUD is intimidating. It has menus hidden inside menus, and if you press the wrong button on the wrong day, you might accidentally reset a three-month pregnancy.

So, if youโ€™re a woman looking to get pregnant, or a man wanting to throw your seed around like confetti, this guide covers every single button, feature, and mechanic of the Mama Allpa V3 System.

If you are new to the concept of intimacy in SL and how HUDs like this facilitate connection, you should read my primer on what is Virtual Sex?

What is Mama Allpa?

Mama Allpa is the most advanced biological reproduction system in Second Life. Unlike older systems like Tummy Talk, Mama Allpa uses a complex scripting engine to simulate real-time ovulation, menstruation, and genetic inheritance (DNA). It is the industry standard for family roleplay on the grid.

Reading the HUD: Indicators & Icons

Before you click anything, you need to understand what the HUD is telling you. The system communicates through text colour and glowing icons. Ignoring these means missing your conception window.

The Cycle Status (Text Colour)

The text caption floating above your HUD is your biological clock. Its colour changes based on your fertility.

HUD Colour Guide
Colour Cycle Phase What It Means
Red Menstruation You are on your period. Fertility is zero. The contraceptive pill expires here.
Violet Ovulation Peak Fertility. If you want a baby, this is the time to mate.
White Follicular / Luteal The days in between. Conception is unlikely but possible depending on your settings.
Green Pregnant You have conceived. The cycle stops, and gestation begins.

Important: Just like in real life, a pregnancy will not show immediately after sex. The text wonโ€™t turn Green until the end of your cycle (around Day 25 in a standard Human setting). Donโ€™t panic if the text stays White right after mating.

The HUD Icons

Your HUD is a dashboard. Here is what those glowing symbols actually do.

HUD Icons Explained
Icon Name Function
Cycle Day Floating Text Shows your exact progress (e.g., โ€œDay 14โ€). Note: Male HUDs do not see this.
โ™€ Venus Female Indicator Female HUD: Always lit. Fills with a heart if pregnant.
Male HUD: Lights up when a female is within 10m.
โ™‚ Mars Male Indicator Female HUD: Lights up when a male is within 10m.
Male HUD: Always lit.
Pill Contraceptive Gray: You have pills in inventory.
Coloured: Pill is active (100% protection).
Condom Protection Shows if you have condoms stocked (Max 9). Used during the mating sequence.
Poly Force/Poly Lights up if the โ€œPolyโ€ add-on is installed, allowing spontaneous or forced encounters.
Envelope Notes Lights up during pregnancy to give you daily roleplay hints and symptom updates.
Cross Support Lights up if a certified Mama Allpa staff member (Doctor/Midwife) is nearby.

Setting Up The Female HUD

When you first attach the HUD, your biological settings are generic. If you conceive now, your baby will be a generic grey mesh. You must configure your DNA first.

Step 1: Set Your Traits (Mandatory)

This determines the genetics of your future child.

  1. Click the HUD.
  2. Navigate to Assistant > My Body > Traits.
  3. Select your Skin Tone, Eye Colour, and Hair Colour.
    • Tip: If you are doing a โ€œmixedโ€ roleplay (e.g., human mother, alien father), make sure the father sets his traits too. The baby will be a mix of both settings.

Step 2: Configure Your Cycle

By default, the HUD is set to โ€œHumanoidโ€ (28-day cycle). If you are a furry, an elf, or just want a faster pregnancy, change this immediately.

  • Group: Choose โ€œMammalโ€ or other options to determine litter sizes (multiple babies).
  • Species: This is a cosmetic tag (e.g., โ€œFairy,โ€ โ€œNekoโ€). Doctors scanning you will see this tag.
  • My Cycle: Here you fine-tune the math.
    • Cycle Length: Days from period to period.
    • Gestation: How long the pregnancy lasts in days.
    • Tolerance: The variance in your cycle length (adds realism).

Warning: You can only change cycle settings on Day 1 or Day 2. If you are already on Day 15, you must Reset your HUD first (Assistant > My HUD > Reset).

Step 3: Belly Mechanics

  • Path: Assistant > My HUD > Belly Grow
  • Function: The HUD uses a built-in deformer to stretch your belly mesh.
  • Jessโ€™s Advice: If you wear a mesh body like Maitreya LaraX or eBody Reborn, the default deformer can look lumpy. I recommend turning this OFF and using the dedicated pregnancy add-on shapes provided by your body creator instead.

Pro-Tip: If you use Legacy body with the Mama Allpa HUD then for some reason it messes with your breast physics. You need to choose a different attachment point for it. Right Click > Attach to HUD > Centre 2 then move it around your screen to where you want it.

To make sure you have an avatar that supports dedicated pregnancy shapes rather than the default deformer, check my Best Mesh Bodies guide for the most compatible options.

Setting Up The Male HUD

Men often think they just โ€œwear and go.โ€ Wrong. If you want credit for the kid (and to pass a paternity test), you need to configure your side of the equation.

Step 1: Set Traits

Just like the female, go to Assistant > My Body > Traits. If you have blue eyes and blonde hair, set it here.

Step 2: The โ€œPublic Fatherโ€ Setting (Important)

This is the #1 reason paternity tests fail in Second Life.

  • Open the HUD.
  • Navigate to Assistant > My Body.
  • Enable Public Father. Without this setting, the mother cannot prove paternity unless you are standing within 10 meters of her.

Step 3: Sperm Count

You can adjust your fertility slider from 0% to 100%. If you want to โ€œshoot blanksโ€ for roleplay reasons without using condoms, lower this setting to zero.

The Mating Dance: How To Conceive

The Mama Allpa system requires a digital โ€œhandshakeโ€ between the two HUDs. You cannot just animate on a poseball and expect a baby.

The Process

  1. Proximity: The Male and Female must be within 10 meters. The Mars (โ™‚) and Venus (โ™€) signs on both HUDs will light up.
  2. The Initiation (Standard):
    • The Female clicks her HUD.
    • Selects โ€œOpen forโ€ฆโ€
    • Selects the Maleโ€™s name from the list.
  3. The Climax:
    • Once the Female opens the connection, the Maleโ€™s Venus sign fills up.
    • He clicks his HUD to Ejaculate.
  4. The โ€œPolyโ€ or โ€œPartnerโ€ Bypass:
    • If you have added him as a Partner (Assistant > Partner > Add), he can initiate the connection without you opening it first.
    • If you have the Poly add-on installed, he can initiate spontaneously.

Using Protection

  • Condoms: Must be acquired from the Mainstore (free). Before mating begins, either partner selects โ€œUse Condomโ€ on their HUD. This reduces fertility to 0% for that single session.
  • The Pill: Available at the Mainstore.
    • Females: Lasts for one full cycle. Expires automatically when menstruation begins.
    • Males: Lasts for 7 Real Life days.

While Mama Allpa handles the biology, you still need compatible genitalia and animations to initiate the act, which I cover in my Second Life sex guide.

Add-Ons: Upgrading Your Experience

The base HUD is powerful, but the Add-Ons unlock the full potential of the system. These are sold separately at the Mama Allpa Mainstore.

Essential Add-Ons
Add-On Who Needs It? What It Does
Hyperfertility Impatience Guaranteed Pregnancy. Boosts conception chance to 100% immediately. Perfect for starting a timeline tonight.
Poly Hardcore RP Spontaneous Play. Allows males to start mating without permission and females to force ejaculation. Includes a block list.
Journal Promiscuous Track History. Shows the last 8 encounters. Crucial if you have multiple partners and need to guess the father before Day 25.
Finder Singles Hookup Tool. Lists random active users nearby who also have Finder installed. Basically Tinder for pregnancy RP.
Lock BDSM / Subs Control. Allows a โ€œKeyholderโ€ to lock your fertility settings so you cannot take the pill or lower your fertility.

Pregnancy and Giving Birth

So, the text turned Green. You are pregnant. Now what?

The Pregnancy Phase

  • Daily Notes: You will get a roleplay hint every day via the Envelope icon (e.g., โ€œYou feel nauseous this morningโ€).
  • Manual Pregnancy: Want to skip the sex? You can set yourself to pregnant manually.
    • Constraint: You MUST be on Day 1 or Day 2 of your cycle.
    • Path: Assistant > My Body > Condition > Yes Manual.
    • Note: Paternity tests will show you as the father in a manual pregnancy.

The Delivery (Birthing)

When your gestation timer completes, the Pregnancy menu unlocks the delivery options. You must be in a script-enabled area where you have permission to rez objects (like a clinic or your home).

  1. Simple End: Use this if you RP the birth using other tools. It simply clears the HUD and gives you a chat report of the babyโ€™s stats.
  2. Test Delivery: A practice run. The baby will be grey (no traits). Use this to test your camera angles and furniture positioning.
  3. Delivery: The real event. This rezzes the baby/babies. They will possess the genetic traits (Skin/Hair/Eyes) you and the father configured.
  4. The 9 Steps: The HUD guides you through the stages (Contractions > Water Breaking > Pushing). You control the pace of each step.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Why is my Mama Allpa cycle math wrong?

This occurs if you change settings mid-cycle. Go to Assistant > My HUD > Reset to fix the calculation.

How do I do a paternity test if the father is offline?

The father must enable the โ€œPublic Fatherโ€ setting in his HUD (Assistant > My Body). This allows checking without him being nearby.

Does Mama Allpa work with mesh bodies?

Yes, the HUD functions with all bodies, but I recommend disabling the built-in โ€œBelly Growโ€ deformer for newer mesh bodies like Kupra or Reborn.

I had sex but the text didnโ€™t turn Green.

Wait. The pregnancy is only revealed at the end of the cycle (Day 25+). If you are impatient, use the Journal add-on to see your conception chances, or visit a Clinic with a Physicianโ€™s Scanner to check early.

I really wish this had been out a few months back. The Mama Allpa site is such a pain to get through, it looks ancient. And seriously, to the guys set your HUDs to public! I’m still trying to figure out who my baby daddy is.
