Iโve lived through the journey of how to become a Second Life escort. Iโve survived the grind, and built my own successful brand, X-Sisters. Iโve watched hundreds of girls try and fail, and now Iโm sharing the exact playbook that took me from standing on street corners to running the show. Becoming a Second Life sex worker taught me so much, about myself, about the industry and about other people.
My career as a Second Life escort was built on specific strategies and advice from very established escorts all over the grid. This post now compiles all of those lessons into a clear roadmap for you of everything you need to know about Second Life escorting. Iโll look at the necessary etiquette, profile building, monetary advice and networking skills you need. If youโre completely new to the mechanics of the world, you should first learn the basics with my Second Life Sex Guide. Following that foundation, we can jump into the details of building your reputation and client base.
To provide a luxury experience, you need the right tools. Access my directory of reputable sims, add-ons and client management advice in my library of Second Life sex resources.

Your Roadmap to Success as a Second Life Escort
This guide is the foundation, but to truly make money, you need the full toolkit. Iโve built a complete library for Second Life sex workers to help you bypass the rookie mistakes.
Once you learn the basics here, you need to read my guide on how to find the best sims for escorting to ensure you actually get traffic, and study my 17 Powerful Tips for Second Life Sex Workers to give yourself a serious edge over the competition.
The Reality Check: Anyone can slap the โEscortโ label on their profile pick. Real success takes grit, patience, and a thick skin. Iโve been through it all, from standing on street corners to running a successful brand. If you have questions, drop them in the comments. Iโm here to help.
Why People Choose to Become Escorts in Second Life
| The Driver | The Expectation | The Reality |
|---|---|---|
| The Money | โIโll make easy Lindens fast.โ | Itโs a grind. Success takes grit. You need a strong mindset to survive the โSummer Slumpโ when business goes quiet. |
| The Fun | โIโll just stand around and look pretty.โ | Itโs a lifestyle. The community is key. Standing on a street corner is boring, but joking with the other girls makes it the best job in SL. This is why Iโm an escort. |
| The Role | โIโm trading sex for money.โ | Youโre selling intimacy. Clients want connection. If you treat it only like a transaction, youโll fail. If you love it, youโll get rich. |

Perfecting Your Avatar | The EvoX Standard
I learned very quickly that one of the most important parts of becoming a successful Second Life escort is how you look. Looks do matter in Second Life but theyโre definitely not everything. You need an avatar that makes clients cocks throb. That means you should be investing in a high-quality mesh body and head, sexy clothes, and an overall polished look.
It might feel like a lot of money at first, but think of it as an investment in yourself and your business, because thatโs what it is. I always recommend getting an EvoX head and pairing it with a Legacy or Maitreya Lara X body. The right skin, hair (try Doux or Truth), and animations will make all the difference.
At my own venue, X-Sisters Sex Bar, I have strict appearance standards. I donโt allow necklines or low quality mesh, and Iโm very serious about clients only seeing the best. The more effort you put into your look, the more youโll get back in terms of both attention and money.
Look at it this way, who do you think a client will pick? A common system avatar or one of my irresistible X-Girls?
| Item | Recommended Brand | Approx Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Head | LeLutka EvoX | L$4,000 |
| Body | Legacy / Maitreya Lara X | L$2,750 โ L$5,000 |
| Skin | Velour / Glam Affair | L$1,500 |
| AO / Animations | Vista / AOX | L$2,000 |
| TOTAL | Startup Budget | ~L$12,500 ($50 USD) |

The Art of Emoting | The 3-Sentence Rule
Emoting is everything when it comes to being a Second Life escort. I have had clients that are amazing emoters, and clients that just type a grunt every 5 minutes. Yet I never deviate from giving it my all, because I know that thereโs a standard to uphold.
Virtual sex, at its very core, creates and immersive and arousing experience through text, and your ability to emote well can make or break a session. But hereโs the important thing โ there are no universal rules for emoting. Everyone has a different style.
I use a simple but effective method: the three-sentence rule. Start with a vivid description of your appearance or actions, then describe what youโre doing, and finish with an emotional or verbal response to the client. This keeps your emotes quick, yet impactful, without overwhelming the client with long paragraphs.
Action or Look: Begin with a vivid description of what youโre doing or how you look, setting the scene for the encounter.
Action: Continue with the ongoing action, maintaining excitement and engagement.
Feeling or Oral Communication: Convey your emotions or engage in verbal communication to enhance the roleplay experience.
Example
/me wraps her fingers around his thick shaft, stroking him slowly. Her lips curl into a playful smile as she locks eyes with him. โMmm, you like that?โ she purrs.
This simple but effective structure lets me cover all needed elements while making sure I can do quick typing to maintain the flow. My tip: avoid lengthy paragraphs, because the chances are that your partner probably wonโt read them all.

How I Make Money As An Escort: Rates, Tips & Venue Splits
Making money as a Second Life escort is about more than just your hourly rate. While a standard date might net you L$1,500, the real profit comes from understanding Venue Splits (the percentage the club takes) and Tips. A successful escort can earn upwards of L$5,000 per booking if they learn the art of the upsell.
When I first started, I was hesitant to charge L$1500, but I quickly learned that lowering your rates only attracts the worst clients. Now, I turned escorting into a full on empire. Between my escorting business and this site, I turned it into a full time job.
I never go straight for sex with a client. I tease them, I get them to tip me topless, then tip me nude, then get a lapdance. Then I tease them more, have them extend their lapdance time and then finally sex. That takes what might be a L$4,000 hire into an almost L$10,000 hire. I make far more money just from knowing how to drive them wild and want me more.
So, when you start out as a Second Life escort, itโs pretty important to decide what services you want to offer and how much youโll charge. Here are a few things to consider:
- Text-Based or Beyond: Will you stick to text-only services, or are you open to voice or cam interactions?
- Set Boundaries: What are your limits? Be clear with clients about what youโre comfortable with, and donโt be afraid to say no.
- Be Open to Exploration: While boundaries are important, donโt be afraid to try new things within your comfort zone. Sometimes clients will have ideas that turn into enjoyable experiences.
- Honesty is Key: Be upfront with clients. If something makes you uncomfortable, say so. A strong relationship with clients is built on trust and communication.
- Venue Split: Some venues will take a share of your income. Itโs usually a small amount between 5-20%. While it may seem like itโs not worth it. It is. If itโs a reputable venue that brings in the traffic for you, then itโs worth it. If itโs a venue that asks you to bring your regulars to populate the place โ walk away.
| Service | Low End | High End | X-Sisters | Real World (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Companionship | L$500/hr | L$1500/hr | L$2500/hr | $2.00 โ $10.00 |
| Sex / Emoting | L$1000/hr | L$3000/hr | L$3900/hr | $4.00 โ $15.60 |
| Voice / Cam | L$2000+ | L$5000+ | Negotiable | $8.00 โ $20.00+ |
When you look at the real-world USD conversions (roughly L$250 to $1 USD), the reality of SL Sex Work becomes very clear. Youโll probably see some people claim that claiming you can only make $5 a week as a Second Life sex worker. Thatโs entirely true, span class=โlux-pink-textโ>if you treat escorting like a casual hobby, donโt understand your worth, refuse to learn the UI, and sit in empty sims waiting for handouts.
If you treat it like a business, then the maths change. A dedicated escort working a few structured nights a week at a well run venue with good clients, can comfortably pull in L$25,000+ a week. That translates to roughly $100 USD a week, or an extra $400 a month. Top girls who upsell voice and cam services easily double or triple that.
No, Second Life escorting probably isnโt going to buy you a real-world mansion. But an extra $5,000 a year just for logging in and getting naughty? Thatโs serious side-hustle money. Donโt let girls who failed at it convince you there isnโt money on the table.

How I Learned To Weaponize Animations | Donโt Kill the Mood
Nothing kills a fantasy faster than your head clipping through a headboard or spending 30 seconds searching a menu for a specific position while the client waits in awkward silence. As a Second Life escort, your job is to make the mechanics invisible so the client only feels the intimacy.
One of the first things I learned was that clients will not adjust poses to line them up. I had to do it, and I had to learn to be quick at it. One of the best tips I ever taught myself was setting my hover height to 0 any time I sat on a bed. It massively saves time and makes most other adjustments minimal.
Bottom line is you need to be a pilot, not just a passenger.
Know Your Furniture โ Donโt wait until youโre with a client to test a bed. Hop on it when the room is empty. Memorize where the oral, missionary, and doggy style loops are located in the menu. If a client asks for something specific, you should be able to click it instantly without scrolling through five sub-menus.
The โAdjustโ Button is Your Friend โ Every avatar is a different height. A position that lines up perfectly with a Legacy body might look ridiculous with a shorter LaraX avatar.
- Watch the alignment: If your genitals arenโt touching, use the [Adjust] button immediately.
- Fix the sinking: If you are floating above the mattress or sinking into it, fix the Z-offset.
- Smooth Transitions: Donโt jump from a standing blowjob directly to a lying-down missionary pose. It looks jarring. Move logically through the sequence (Standing -> Kneeling -> Bed).
The goal is to make the sex look seamless. If youโre struggling with the menu, the client is pulled out of the fantasy and back into a video game.

Second Life Sex Worker Confidence: The Difference Between L$0 and L$5000
Clients arenโt paying you just for your avatar. They can buy a pretty shape on the Marketplace for L$500. They are paying you to take charge.
When I first started, I was terrified. I stood in the corner of the sim, hoping someone would IM me, and panicked every time a client asked for something I hadnโt done before. That hesitation cost me money.
Confidence in Second Life is simply the ability to drive the car. The client is the passenger; you are the driver. If you ask, โWhat do you want to do?โ every five seconds, you are making them do the work.
How to Project Authority (Even If Youโre Nervous):
- Initiate the IM: Donโt wait to be chosen. If you see a potential client, say hello. The worst they can say is no.
- Control the Pace: You decide when the clothes come off. You decide when the scene changes. Leading the interaction makes the client feel taken care of (and stops them from getting bored).
- Silence is Power: If a client tries to lowball your rate or demands something on your โNoโ list, donโt apologize. A simple โMy rates are non-negotiableโ is far more sexy than a paragraph of excuses.
Fake it until you make it. In Second Life, nobody knows youโre actually sitting at your computer in sweatpants eating Cheetos. Be the boss, and theyโll treat you like one.

The Big Choice: Club Work vs. Street Walking
You have two paths in this industry: working a shift at a venue (like my bar, X-Sisters) or working independently on the street (like at Street Whores).
| Feature | Street Walking (Freelance) | Club/Bar (Venue) |
|---|---|---|
| Your Cut | 100% (You keep everything) | 80-100% (Usually โ some split tips) |
| Traffic | Random. You hunt for it. | Management bring in the clients. |
| Standards | Anything goes. | Strict Dress Codes & Rules. |
| Safety | Low. Griefers are common. | High. Rules and consistency are a huge thing to keep everyone safe. |
Iโve worked in a variety of places over the years, and now, I run a successful sex bar of my own. The key to success is finding a place that aligns with your style, is active, and offers enough foot traffic to keep you busy.
Examples of Good Locations:
- Street Whores: This iconic sim offers a gritty, raw environment for escorts to thrive in. Itโs a busy community where sex work is celebrated, and thereโs always someone looking for action. It is after all one of the oldest and most popular red light districts (which is why I bought it in 2024). [Teleport to Street Whores]
- X-Sisters Sex Bar: My personal bar, where we maintain high standards and attract a wide range of clients. We offer a fun, upscale environment that keeps people coming back. [Take a trip to X-Sisters]
If youโre serious about success, invest time in finding a sim that works for you. Some freelancers like to use the dirty motels scattered around the grid, if thatโs your thing then check out our guide to the best motels in Second Life.
Every location has its own atmosphere, and picking the right one will increase your chances of making money and enjoying your time as a Second Life escort.
If engaging with clients exhausts you, you can still earn money while sleeping. Read my guide on AFK Sex & Passive Income to see how the somnophilia market works.

The Escort Reality Check | Safety, Stigma & Sanity
Itโs not all easy money and luxury shopping sprees. The sex industry in Second Life has a dark side, and if you arenโt prepared for it, it will chew you up.
I have seen talented escorts quit within a month because they let a client get too close or let the drama get under their skin. To survive, you need to treat your security as seriously as your aesthetics.
OpSec (Operational Security)
The biggest risk isnโt a griefer; itโs the โbleedโ between Real Life (RL) and Second Life (SL). Early in my career, I made the mistake of using a similar username on my SL Instagram as I did on my RL Twitter. A client found it. It was a terrifying wake-up call.
The Rules of Engagement:
- The Discord Trap: Clients will beg for your Discord. If you give it, make sure it is a clean account not linked to your real phone number or contacts.
- Voice Chat: If you use voice, be aware that accents and background noise reveal a lot about where you live.
- Zero Tolerance: If a client asks for RL photos or your real name, block them. No amount of money is worth your safety.
The โWhoreโ Stigma
Second Life is strange. It is a world built on sex, yet people will judge you for selling it. You will encounter โFamily Simsโ that ban anyone in the official Street Whores group. You will meet โFashionistasโ who turn their nose up at you.
My Advice: Let them judge. While theyโre standing around looking pretty and spending real money to pay their tier, you are earning it. Youโre running a business; theyโre playing a game. Develop a thick skin and remember that the โBlockโ button is free. Use it liberally.
Emotional Burnout
This is the downside nobody really talks about. Escorting is both physical and emotional labour. Clients are often lonely. They will unload their real-life trauma, divorce issues, and depression on you. You are part sex-worker, part therapist.
Protect Your Energy:
- You are not paid to be a therapist (unless you charge for it).
- Set strict โLog Offโ times.
- Do not feel guilty for firing a client who is draining your mental health.
Being a Second Life sex worker gives you freedom and financial power, but only if you build a wall between your business and your heart. Keep your guard up.

The Second Life Sex Worker Proโs Playbook | Secrets to Longevity
You have the look, the rate card, and the confidence. Now you need the strategy. The difference between an escort who lasts a week and one who builds an empire isnโt just about being โhot.โ Itโs about intelligence.
Success in Second Life is 20% visual and 80% psychological. You need to know when to push, when to pull back, and how to make a client feel like the only person in the world (even when you are checking your inventory).
Every client Iโve ever had, taught me something new. Whether they taught me about adapting to a specific kink, how to be patient, how to read a profile or how when theyโre tapped out and need to slow down the spending and relax. It is a constant game of learning.
Here are the unspoken rules that built my career.
Second Life Escort Final Thoughts | Itโs Your Business
Being an escort in Second Life is one of the few professions where you have total control. You set the hours, you set the rates, and you choose the clients. To me, it is the best way to spend your time in Second Life. Not just because of the work, but because of the people.
Donโt let the โgameโ aspect fool you.. this is a business. Treat it with professionalism, guard your safety, and the Lindens will follow.

Iโve tried a few times to be an escort, not because of the lindens but just as you suggest, for the fun!
The problem is that I find it a bit too much fun and have a extremely hard time keeping to my rate card. Itโs way too easy for guys to haggle me downโฆmost times to the point where I just give it away for free.
Iโm a great slutโฆbut terrible escort. ๐ข
XD if you’re having fun then that’s what’s most important!
ยฟCuรกl serรญa una tarjeta de tarifas recomendada?
Me gustarรญa iniciar este negocio pero no tengo la mรกs mรญnima idea. Sus sugerencias serรกn bienvenidas. Gracias.
Thank god for google translate XD
A recommended rate card is really dependent on you. My rate card for text services is
900 L for a 15 minute quickie
1600 L for 30 minutes full service
2200 L for 60 minutes full service
I would suggest starting around there. One thing you don’t want to do is start low and then raise your rates later on because that might push your regular clients away.
I’ve honestly been treating this like my go-to guide ever since I started about a month ago. Just one thing. you don’t really talk about handling rejection as an escort, and I’d love to know your thoughts on that. Itโs something Iโve been struggling with.
Hey! Iโm so glad you found the guide useful!
Rejection is actually a great point, and something we all have to deal with. Iโll probably add a section to the post about it too, but let me reply here too.
First thingโs first: think of yourself as a product, not a person. Yes, I know, that sounds cold as fuck, but trust me it helps. Imagine going into a store to buy some rice. Thereโs a whole aisle full of different brands. So, you look at all of them, maybe even pick up a few to compare. Ultimately, in the end, you choose the one that fits your needs. The rest stay on the shelf and there’s no hard feelings.
Itโs the same idea for us as escorts. Clients are shopping. Theyโre looking for an escort that fits their tastes, their kinks and their needs. Rejection isnโt personal itโs really just part of what we do. Their money, their choice. And yeah, some will pick someone else, it happens. But the same as with the rice, thereโs always someone else coming along ready to pick you up and spend.
If youโre an escort to boost your confidence then itโs going to be super tough. Rejection hits really hard in this industry at times and it can grind you down if youโre not ready for it. We’ve all experienced it, but when you know how to handle it then it makes it much easier. The trick is having patience and to remind yourself that every โnoโ just brings you closer to the next person who says โyes.โ
Bottom line: donโt worry about rejection. Someone whoโs ready to throw some Lindens your way is always just around the corner.
Thank you sooo much for this itโs crazy helpful and I legit canโt wait to put it to use!!!
Hey Jess! What about no poseball HUDs, sound add-ons or similar when you’re not around adult furniture, for example? Do you use them? Have you found some that are better than others or that are simply worth using?
That is a great question! I’ll actually, most likely, add this breakdown to the main escort guide now.
So, finding a good no-poseball HUD is notoriously difficult. Without poseballs, you’re usually stuck fighting horrible alignment issues. And obviously with poseballs, without rez rights you’re sort of screwed. If you want the absolute best experience for anywhere-sex, I would recommend getting the Sex Everywhere HUD by Warm. It allows you to take the animations you already own out of your furniture and use them anywhere on the grid. It also gives you really precise alignment controls, so you can have a sex HUD that’s basically your own custom one. Just a note that setting it up is a heavy time investment, but it pays off.
On the flip side, I would personally steer entirely clear of the VAW HUD system. It is a great concept in theory, but the build is dated and the animations are incredibly stiff.
When it comes to SL sound HUDs, Good Moaning makes the best premium option, hands down. The only downside is that their audio files are almost too crisp and clean. But if you want something that sounds a bit grittier and more raw, GreenTechโs Sex Voice HUD is a really good alternative.
I know you didn’t ask specifically about this, but there’s also avatar physics and spankers. I don’t wear spankers, but I do test them (I test most things so I can write good advice lol). For this, Pretty Liars is completely unbeatable. Their spankers are really good quality. I’ve also used their Real Body Physics for years at this point, and I don’t see myself ever changing. If you’re not using physics-enabled furniture like Cuming Soon or Good Moaning, having that physics add-on makes a massive difference.
Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for including so many details in your answer!
I’m not seeing any mention of Lovense, I thought this was pretty much a given nowadays, it seems very popular. What are your thoughts?
I’m a massive advocate for Lovense. I actually pulled the Lovense section out of the guide when I refreshed and reposted it a few weeks ago specifically because I’m writing an entire standalone manual on how to escort using it. I’ve covered Lovense very heavily over the years, but the business side of it needed its own dedicated guide.
When it comes to my actual thoughts on using them for work, Lovense is an amazing tool to have. When you combine the physical elements with voice, you can fly through that immersion wall.
But while Lovense as a whole is incredibly popular in Second Life, getting hired specifically for Lovense services is not as common. Looking at my own hire and watching the traffic across my various sims over the years, there is a pretty big ratio difference. The public sex sims are generally more likely to have Lovense users. The escorting sims, not so much. The vast majority of paying clients still prefer standard text roleplay. I love using my Lush or Nora during a booking, but the scales are heavily tilted toward text play.
So, for anyone building an escort toolkit, I wouldn’t call Lovense a strict must have. It’s a profitable nice to have. It allows you to upcharge and increases the earning potential but it’s not the be-all and end-all for escorting. Text is still the majority preference and will still net the most income overall.
