The moonlight came through the canopy of the woods and painted the forest floor in hues of violet and silver. Stretching my iridescent wings, I felt the night air wash over my bare skin. I’m a creature of the twilight courts which means I live for the exquisite excitement of the hunt. But that perfect stillness, however, shattered the second a mortal’s clumsy boots hit the ground.

I looked down from my perch on the massive branch of an ancient tree to admire the magnificent specimen below. Broad shoulders and a strong jaw framed the bewildered eyes of a man who was wandering way out of his depth.

Dressed in simple leather and linen, the foolish traveller was unprepared for the kind of magic that saturates the earth he was walking on. Pushing blindly through a thicket of ferns, that stranger belonged to me the second his heavy boots crushed my moss.

So, I let gravity pull me down and I dropped from the high branches. I flared my wings at the very last second to land right behind him.

Spinning around, the mortal gasped for air. Sweat dripped from his brow and his chest heaved with both exertion and terror.

Surrender to the Magic

“You’re wandering far from home, traveller,” I whispered. My voice was soft and laced with a heavy but intoxicating magic designed specifically to bypass human logic and melt his resolve into a pathetic puddle.

“I…” Blinking rapidly, my prey already had his eyes locked onto mine. “I lost my path.”

“Most do,” I purred as I took a step closer. A thick cloud of jasmine flared around me. It acts as a potent pheromone meant to drug his senses and completely strip away his physical defenses. Reaching up, I dragged a sharp fingernail down his cheek. “Some find that getting lost is exactly what they needed.”

A shiver racked his spine as the magic in my touch acted as a mind-altering elixir. Staring down at me, the man was completely captivated and vulnerable. I kept moving forward until we were flush against each other with the raw heat of my body radiating against his skin.

“What’s your name, traveller?” I asked softly.

“Marcus,” he breathed, physically incapable of looking away from my face.

“Marcus.” Rolling the syllables over my tongue, I smiled. “A strong name for a beautiful toy. Let me show you a place where you can truly rest, Marcus. A place where you do not need to think at all.”

Offering no resistance, his eyes glazed over with a dark, mindless infatuation.

I grabbed his large hand and dragged him deeper into the enchanted dark. My home is a massive, hollowed clearing beneath the oldest roots of the forest. The ground is carpeted in plush, deep purple moss that feels exactly like crushed velvet beneath bare feet, while glowing blossoms cast long shadows across the floor.

“Strip,” I commanded.

The word had the unbreakable weight of a Fae geas, forcing Marcus to undress instantly. His muscular frame shuddered with eager anticipation, completely mesmerized by my every move. Circling him slowly, I admired the raw physical strength I was about to thoroughly break and use for my own enjoyment.

“You carry too much tension, Marcus. You need to surrender to me.” Dragging my hands over his broad shoulders, I felt the thick, tight muscles move beneath my touch as I slid down his body. “Let me take something beautiful.”
