Flashback Friday: The Escort Marathon of 2022 (Commentary)

Recently, while giving this site its yearly “refresh”, I started reading through a lot of older content. I added some commentary boxes to a few of them to help new readers who find the post and have no idea what’s going on. For example, if you jumped straight into Dee’s wedding post from 2023 without reading the “Virgin Bar Manager” saga, you’d miss the entire arc of her deception.

But the more I read through, the more I realized that there were hundreds of older posts that have so many memories attached to them. They were so much fun to write, and even though a good number of them rank for weird keyphrases like “fish bar” (don’t ask) and bring in traffic, I wanted to do something special with them.

That’s when this idea came to me: “Flashback Friday.”

What is Flashback Friday?

Think of it as a DVD-style commentary track for the blog. I’ll take an older post and look at it from a different perspective. I’ll break down the “behind the scenes,” share the gossip I couldn’t say at the time, and critique my own questionable choices. Flashback Friday will be written by the character or person who wrote the original post. So today, it’s me. If it’s a Sasha post, she’ll write it (and probably complain about it).

The first post I want to revisit is honestly so early in the days of this blog that it was only the 12th post I ever wrote. 12. Can you believe that? On the day that this post goes out, it will be my 350th post written from my perspective, the 512th on the site overall.

Back then, I had no real idea what I was doing. I mean, I knew how to have sex in Second Life, I was very good at that, but as for running a blog? I was winging it.

The Tech Specs: Why Did I Wear Kupra?

Looking at the photos from that day… wow.

Back then, I was still using the Kupra body. If you read my guide on the best mesh bodies in Second Life, you’ll know I usually recommend Legacy. But back in 2022, I was still very new to SL and had been convinced by people that Kupra was the “premium choice”. Spoiler: I despised it.

Nothing looked right. But after the money I spent on it, I was determined to get a few months of use out of it. I think 3 months was all it lasted before I moved to Legacy and never looked back.

I was also using my old Catwa HDPRO head. I still use Catwa now, but the EvoX version is a huge upgrade. And of course, you’ll see a massive difference in photo quality. Back then, I was shooting at 1700 pixels on the Firestorm Viewer (for some stupid reason) and hadn’t learned how to use windlights properly. The lighting is flat, the shadows are harsh… ew. If I could send a link to my Second Life newcomers guide back in time to myself, I absolutely would.

Client Confidential: The Ones I Remember (And Forgot)

This day is actually a bit of a blur in my memory, mostly because of the sheer volume of sex I had. It was actually the first time I got hired by a blog reader. It turned out to be two in one day!

That part I remember vividly, the excitement of someone knowing my name. But who the first client actually was… I have no recollection. Which sounds bad, I know. But I’ve had sex thousands of times since then. Faces blur and the Linden transaction history doesn’t stay for almost four years. I went looking to see if I could find the unblurred photograph in my archives, but I couldn’t. It’s probably on an old hard drive somewhere.

The Marathon That Never Happened

At the end of the post, I had the “great idea” to plan a 12-Hour Escort Marathon. The plan was: 12 hours, 20-minute slots, as many clients as possible. I’m sad to say that I never followed through on that.

This isn’t something that happened often back then. In the Candy’s days, I had so much more availability. Whenever I had a wild idea, I almost always executed it. But I think the sheer exhaustion of handling 8 clients in 6 hours that day was a reality check. My avatar might not get tired, but I certainly do.

Nostalgia for Candy’s

Reading that post back does make me sort of nostalgic for the Candy’s All-Inclusive Sex Hotel days. It was one of the best sex venues in SL at the time for a reason. It was a factory of sin. I met Rach, Lumi, Chandra, Christina, Caleb, Kane and of course Caroline there. We were a family of whores (well, Caleb and Kane weren’t escorts. Sluts, but not escorts). Without that place, X-Sisters wouldn’t even be a thought. We cut our teeth in that place and learned how to run a business.

So, I present to you the post that started the marathon idea, even if the marathon itself never crossed the finish line.
